Matariki is the Māori name for a cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades or the Seven Sisters, which rises in mid-winter and heralds the start of the Māori New Year in New Zealand. The appearance of Matariki is a time for celebration, reflection, and renewal. It is a period when Māori, along with others, traditionally remember those who have passed, celebrate the present, and plan for the future.  How will you celebrat this year?
