About:  Nifo Koula Lips – Tonga
The Nifo Koula Lips design draws from my Tongan heritage, pairing the bold lip motif with a golden tooth (nifo koula) and a cross symbol representing the Tongan flag.
Its a contemporary take on my 'Tongan Pride'.
In 2020, its first life began hand-cut and hand-sewn onto accessories and bags. The design was later digitised, opening the door for new ways to share it while staying true to its original meaning. When COVID-19 arrived, it featured on a very small print run of masks, with these later acquired by Te Papa Tongarewa for their permanent collection, alongside other works of mine.
 
Now, Nifo Koula – Tonga returns in a very small print run – Number 2. This is not a limited edition, but a second release since the COVID era, moving forward with a fresh chapter.
